NYAAHAHA!!!
Reporting live from SG, the Financial Crisis has really hit the shoppers of downtown Singapore, but! Nevertheless, CNY is really a festive season all around Asia!!

I always liked Chinese New Year, because of the food (the best part), money ( $} ) and new clothes! But, after 5 years of not seeing a "real 'chinese'" new year, I am dead flat out. All the crowds in the shopping centres, on the streets, hectic shopping for non-black-highly-colourful clothing and massive amounts of eating is just too much. And I've only been here 4 days.

Gasp! Went swimming this morning wearing bathers I bought in a massive sale at a department store... Quite an amount of fun. Although I hate swimming. We have a dinner with all the family (15 ppl at a restaurant, zomg), and I am bound to be stuffed fulll, so I plan on having a relatively light lunch. XD I'm so sad, I got no pics for you cos this is a borrowed laptop, so all this writing must be boring you to death. So I will sign off, and let you pray for a more entertaining blog.

~Ying

Mood: Sleepy, de-hydrated and dry
Should be: Outside of the house
Is: 'nt
Wants to: Watch that stupid Taiwan (Tie1) drama and buy that stupid cpop magazine.

Blog Post #4, Kyoto!!

Konichiwa, readers! I apologise for not writing for the last three days! As I think said in the last post; I had no time whatsoever to write!!! I found internet connection, but until this morning was not able to write due to a hectic schedule and a slight addiction to 'Bloody Monday' (I shall explain this later on).

DAY 1 in KYOTO
So. The first day in Kyoto. After a 15 minute Shinkansen ride from Osaka, we got off at Kyoto and checked-in to Hiiragiya Bekkan: a ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn/hotel/room). It had a beautiful garden, fantastic rooms and several anxious (and nice) staff. Soon after, we quickly headed to Gion (the Geisha district), hoping to catch a glimpse at a geisha, and the firy colours of autumn leaves. Unfortunately, we didn't see any geisha, and the leaves were mostly on the ground. But! With the remaining few trees that still had leaves on them, and rows of beautiful, old houses along the river, Gion was truly lovely.

We had a very, very large dinner that night in our rooms, of various Japanese dishes that were autumn-y (if that's a word), and I was at bursting point at the end of it! During the night-time, Huixin and I took a soak in the ofuro (that belonged to the ryokan), which is like a private onsen-like thing. For those who don't know what either are; they are just large, hot bathtubs. It was sad leaving the ryokan, but I was looking forward to seeing lots of temples and shrines the next day!

DAY 2 in KYOTO

Lots of fun!! We rode bikes across suburban Kyoto, to Ryoanji Zen Temple, The Kinkakuji Golden Pavilion and one other temple whose name I have forgotten. It was HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY difficult for me to ride around on the pavements and sidewalks of Kyoto, especially the tiny ones on main roads in the suburbs. I managed to dodge walls, other bicycles, unaware old people and small pot plants by bashing into an average of 1 lamp-post p/two hours. After going to the temple whose name I have forgotten, we parked our bikes in an awesome bike park (like a car park for bikes) -many people ride bikes in Kyoto- and travelled by train to Arashiyama. This is where tourists and locals alike take trains to a mountain-y/hill-y type place and stuff their faces with food.

Just when we could hold no more, we took the train back to the station near the temple whose name I have forgotten, and biked back to the guesthouse in which we stayed. Day 2 in Kyoto was the first time I ever tried a convenience store meal!! Because we got back quite late from Arashiyama (it took lots of energy to transport ourselves back), nothing was open except a few dodgy bars, so we popped into a convenience store to buy a microwaveable meal. The convini (short for convenience store) food is absolutely scrumptious!! They are little ready-packed meals that come in plastic containers that have sauces, salads, ready-made rice/noodles and meat all good to pop in the microwave!

Whilst eating the convini meal, we watched an interesting Japanese drama series which had several actors we knew from other dramas. Curious to find out more, I googled them, and found out this awesome new drama was called "Bloody Monday"; about a computer hacker who has to save the world from terrorism... Hehe! Google it! It's cool!!

DAY 3 in KYOTO

Day three in Kyoto was spent cycling to Kyoto station, taking a train to Fushimi Inari and biking back again. The early-morning ride to Kyoto was very peaceful, as the busy office-working people had either left for work or moved over when we came through.

Fushimi Inari, for those who don't know, are the 10,000 red gates that stretch out for about 2km. It was really spectacular, and I shall give you a photo here! Heehee! Anyway, when we got back, it was dark (around 5 o'clock) and raining, so we stayed inside the station and did some shopping. The intense heating inside the building eventually drove us out of it, and we cycled in the pouring rain trying to balance an umbrella on the handle of the bike. Eventually we stopped under some shelter and decided to wait till the rain lessened.

I have to head to bed now, so I'll keep posting later about Tokyo so far. :D See you!

~Ying

P.S.
2 days till Christmas!

Blog Post #3 (Super short entry)

Hi again, everybody! for the next few days I probably won't be writing much due to the fact I will be in Kyoto, where the hotels we live in don't have any internet. I'm getting used to this!! Heehee! Sorry I didn't post yesterday; I was probably dying on a bed due to over-walking in Shinsaibashi!! I hope to be able to get images up soon!!

The whole of yesterday was spent shopping in the Shinsaibashi area and various train stations. We bought bucket loads of junk including cheap toiletries,　gachapon (little capsules in mini vending machine type things),　scarves, hats, random jewellery, other gangly dangly stuff, and of course, food!　It fascinated me that everyone spoke Japanese (well, duh) and wrote it and things, but I eventually got used to it, and stoped gawking at passersby.

Today Huixin and I ran around Hiroshima and Miyajima, famous for the A-Bomb and the floating gate respectively.

First, we took a Hikari Shinkansen (the second fastest bullet train) that went very, very, very fast from Shin-Osaka station to Hiroshima. At Hiroshima, we took several uncomfortable trams to the Peace Memorial park, where we saw the ruins of a dome-shaped building and fat crows. This was pretty cool, and we took lots of otaku (nerdy) photos!

Next, we went to the museum, which is one of the nost depressing places I have ever been to in my life. There was everything there from burnt, blood-stained, ripped and mutilated clothing and homeware to gruesome pictures to fingernails and skin that had been preserved and horrible descriptions to accompany them.

Utterly grossed-out, we left the museum to take the tram, train and ferry to Miyajima island. This part was super fun! We arrived at around sun-set, and were able to take beautiful photographs of the floating gate that sat in the middle of a river.　There were lots of stray deer that hung around everywhere and we had a great time taking pictures of them and patting them (I think they were clean).

Shortly after, we transported back to Hiroshima to have a lovely dinner of Omu Rice (omelette on rice) and back to Osaka, where I stand now.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my trip, and I hope you have a lovely holiday season!!

~Ying

Blog post # 1... in osaka!!

Hello everybody! Its me here, trying to figure OUT how to use the Japanese keyboard!!! very tricky, and as you can see, i am not using too many punctuation marks and i am making many punctuation errors. please forgive me.

Huixin and I took a stopover flight to gold coast, where we spent 3 hours yelling at gold coast, where we spent 3 hours yelling at each other and bumming around with aioli and fries. The 13 hours flight to Kansai International was rather odd... and so far, my 7 hours spent in japan have included grape soda, scented glue sticksm, babies saying "Denschh" (which is similar TO the japanese word for train - densha), curry, several convenience stores and more screaming babies.

Unfortunately, i am using a rather sad-looking computer with free internet in the hotel basement, which is kinda hard to use... So i will be brief and hard to use... So i will Ｂｅ brief and I shall hope i can aquire a LAN cable in the coming days.

From kansai airport, we took a fast train to Shin-Osaka station (one of the main stations in osaka). The first meal i had in japan was a lovely feast of beef and vegetable curry (japanese style), washes down and vegetable curry (japanese style), washed down with a 100yen can of grape soda. We then explored the vast wonderland of japanese convenience stores, in which we spotted and bought cheap milk and fragrant glue for scrapbooking with. after making our way through a very very busy train station with a suitcase in hand, we headed on foot to this very basement in which i communicate with you.

well, tomorrow i will go to den-den town (electronics galore!) andI will try to ｆｉｎｄ a means of purchasing a LAN cable in which i can use internet in my room with. :) i hope to see you soon!!!!!!

~Ying

Counting down days till Japan!!!

Hello Readers! :D

Ok, finally the time to actually start counting down days till Japan! From now, I have about 4 days and several hours till my take-off at Tullamarine Airport! :)

It is currently time for a soda (if I had one right now), so after this blog post, I shall raid the cupboard for something of the sort!! It is now time for me to introduce you to my new phases!!! I hope I have officially recovered from the Fahrenheit disease, as I now have become vaguely obsessed with British television.

Why, when, whom and how, you may ask? Well, I haven't the foggiest (please take note that that is a very Brit phrase XP)!!! Current things I seem to be crazed upon:

~Merlin
~Casanova? Nah, not really, I just sorta find it hilariously weird...
~The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (not so much the first one, but it's okay...)
~Various episodes of Torchwood, Robin Hood and Doctor Who

Heheh... I think Walt Disney (or whoever made the first two Narnia movies) should make 'The Magicians Nephew' after they finish making 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader', which is in pre-production :) Leave comments on what you think. I also honestly think some nice movie-making company should adopt the idea of making a Monster Blood Tattoo movie. Bah.. Humbug.

Anyways, I'll be posting more often (did I forget to mention the last day of school is OVERRRRR?), and updates on my pre-Japan stress and Japan trip will be put on here.

Gahhh, I just HAD to remind myself about the fact all my beloved friends including Sophie, Alice, Pamela and Alisha are leaving Korowa. Hmph. I was looking forward to graduating Korowa with them. I'll certainly miss all the girls leaving KAGS next year; of course for different reasons, but I will *tear* *sob*.

Oh goshhhh its nearly Christmas! I have a new obsession! Apart from Pi Li MIT, I have found a new short phase!! Some of my other short phases have included: Hana-Kimi, Fahrenheit, Ouran High School Host Club and Various Taiwanese and Japanese dramas. This newest one however, is a brand-new highly un-educational and violent one.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Haha. Scared yah didn't I? You would've guessed like James Bond or something, but no! Prince Caspian ROCKS! It was actually my least favourite book of the Narnia series, but the movie was awesome.

It appears I have to leave now, I promise to come back ASAP! Went to Avvie's place last night (after a tiring ballet dress rehearsal and photo call involving a Father Christmas suit and many blue sequins) with the rest of H4 :D! We spent most of the time talking about things, watching movies, eating a massive amount of lollies and candy, stroking Millie (Anastasia's cat) and using a stylus to whack the screen of a Nintendo DS whilst playing 'Cooking Mama'. It was much fun!

I'm currently rather bored and light-headed so I may act a wee bit... crazee. Eee. Eee. Eeeeeeeeeeeee. Pi Li MIT! Episode 2 is out on the internet! Yay! I'm mega-excited. Oh! And guess what? I watched the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince trailer on Youtube! Although HP&HBP was my least favourite book of the Harry Potter series, I think the movie looks- rather promising!

I'm bouncing around and trying to look for a relatively cold drink of water.

"'May I?' or 'Can I?'. It stars Aaron Yan, Gui Gui, Cai Han Cen, Christine Fan and Figaro Cheng Shao Zong! Basically, Pi Li MIT is a mystery/suspense drama very similar to Detective Conan. It has rather bad special effects, and like every other good Taiwanese drama, it just has to have some romance; in this case, ironically between the 'cool' guy and 'cutesy' irritating girl. Why does the cool guy have to be Aaron Yan?!

Haha... Anna is probably reading this, laughing and pointing at the screen shouting "HAHA, YING I SHARE A BIRTHDAY WITH AAAAAAAAARONNN YANNNNN!!!!", of which she would then text Kelly and say the same thing (or similar with several alters, such as the 'HAHA' being more like a jeer).

Darn. Heheh!

Well, just doing the annual End of Year Stress, in which I run around frantically trying to plan my work (which never works). By now, after 15 posts, you would've guessed who I am, and judging by the fact this is not a very popular blog (wait- scratch that-- no-one reads this blog), only the odd person knows my innermost unsecrets!

Right now, I am taking time out of my busy schedule to make a 'Happy Birthday' sign for Anna and Aaron Yan that I shall paste on Anna's locker first thing tomorrow morning (seeing it's her birthday tomorrow: 20th November) and to write this. Do you not see what I am deliberately trying to do? I'm distracting myself willingly, just so I can have a break.

The clock on this blog is entirely stuffed up- it's 9:07PM right now- almost time for me to go to bed. Hmph. Fine then. I'm rather tired; and I have to go measure our laundry trough (yes, for homework purposes again).

Not many people leave comments; but I think i know what you are thinking right now, as you relaxingly read my blog in your pyjamas and with a hot cup of tea.
Why on earth is the girl complaining so much about the world? Is the world that mean?
Hahaha... got it right eh? Some say I'm psychic.

Anyway, back to listening to my GreeeeN songs!! See you on Facebook!

~Ying

Currently listening to: Rookies sung by GreeeeN
Currently doing: Nothing. My. Doggone. Brain. WE'RE GONNA BE IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!

What on earth?! We were in Grade 1 yesterday man! I remember my very first day back at my old school (North Melbourne PS) all the way back in time to 2003! I was all nervous, it was my very, very first day ever at school- in a new country! Real scary...

And back then, I saw the Year 5s as the 'Big Kids' and the Year 6s 'Too Big to Imagine'! But now, I was now nearly past both of them, and was now an 'Older Kid who goes to High School'!!

Hmph. I didn't want to grow up. Now; in my old eyes, I have. Poop.

So what's the big deal, you ask? Well, for us Korowa Students (past and present), we had a 'Step up to Seven' transition day.

Basically, this was for us to have a 'taste of Year 7-ness'..... as if it did anything though. I met a few new students that will be joining us next year-- a couple of whom I think will make great friends!

One of the activities was Art, which was with Mrs. Price and Trudy (I think that was her name...). It was drawing and tracing flowers with line drawing, and mine turned out pretty crap (if you want to see it; ask me- I should have it handy).

Oh my gosh! Apparently we get like tablet laptops with a webcam next year!! I'm very excited....

So... here I am, a little on the stressed side, doing piles of homework and finishing off a project on people who are all sad about being poor so they move to another country (refugees and migrants).

:] :/ *my moods currently*

~Ying

Booksie

Please visit:
http://www.booksie.com/RazzleColaYing/

~Ying

Citee

Yo blog.

Avv (Anastasia and I) went down the city to have lunch and have a hot choc @ Max Brenner in QV :) it was nice....

Mmm... It was camp- long awaited since it's original date (and cancellation)!

Not long after 7.30am, all 45 Year 6 girls at Korowa AGS piled their luggage into the luggage compartment of a Driver bus and themselves, in passenger seats!

I sat next to Anastasia, and we took lots of stupid photos (I'll include them in my next post, when the house bandwidth would have been updated, for now it's moving at the rate of a sloth) of hallelujah lights, and ourselves.

For the first part of the journey, we watched a cheesy Cinderella movie called Ever After...

We stopped by a toilet stand, where a boy's high school stopped as well (and some old people). Most people went to the toilet, then we watched more movies (this time, Sense and Sensibility which made no Sense or Sensibility to me). I'll include photos of this 'interesting' stopover in my next post.

We later stopped again at a park with a giant playground including a spinning capsule (I have a photo), a really tall rocket (also pictured) and a cool see-saw (several pictures)! I tried taking lots of photos of Nat and Adriana (of course, unsucessfully) but I have included some that I sneaked when they didn't see :P!!!

When we finally arrived at Valley Homestead, Ovens Valley, Myrteford, I really needed to pee (too much info, I know). After a short talk, we all headed (I ran) to our cabins. I was the first to get there, and I was suprised by the cleaniness of the place!!!

That was at around lunch time, and seeing as we had all had lunch at the playground (at around 10.oo-ish) we went straight to the first activities. They included a Lateral Thinking Course and an Aerial Obstacle Course.

The Lateral thinking was quite difficult, and we spent half the time pushing other people's butts up poles and over bits of rope (that sounded very wrong).

The Aerial Obstacle Course was really cool! We were partnered up and we tried to make it through the whole course (it was MEGA) without touching the ground *it was impossible*. I was with Anna, and if we had a dollar for every time we touched the ground, we'd be richer than Bill Gates.

Dinner was Spag Bolognaise, and for dessert we had over-sugared sticky date pudding.

Unfortunately, Jenny couldn't stomach the food, and she threw up. Because of the cheesy smell, Nat (who hates cheese) got Steph C and I to spray the room with Aeroguard! :D It was really funny.

Jenny took a shower, the Nat, who informed us we didn't have hot water. Lucky for me, I had a cold shower (it was really freezing). Immediately after (I know, lucky eh?) Ms. Sterck came in and told us to move cabins 'cos we didn't have hot water.

So we moved to Cabin 12 (this was when I realised there was no cabin 13, only a 12a; I suspect because of superstitious reasons) and the rest had nice HOT showers.

Soon after, we went to the Rec Area where there was this disco ball, and a guy called Lazy Harry.

Lazy Harry sang Australian Folk songs and we danced around Mrs. Parton (in She'll be Comin' Round the Mountain-- Mrs. Parton was the mountain). It was lots of fun, and the night ended at around 10.oopm. We had a supper of Hot Chocolate and a Lemon Slice.

Did I mention the amount Anna J eats?! She ate like 3 helpings of dinner, and the portions were huge!

Anyway, it took us a long, long time to get to sleep, lots of the time trying to tell scary stories but only managing one.
According to Nat, I think we got to bed at around midnight :)

The next day was action-packed! Cabin 12 was on Breakfast Duty meaning we set the tables and cleared it up after the others left.

We headed up the 'hill'(it was more like a mountain) on foot to a camp-fire (that was lit! I have pictures) . Gary (the camp owner, who looked like he was in the army once) showed us how to light a fire, and we all took cheat fire-places to the side of a road.

We lit a practise-fire and boiled a billy can of water (I have photos of this). Then, we took a box of food and headed out to the bush to make ourselves our very own bush lunch!

The box of food included:
1 x Package of Sausages
2 x Bottle of Orange Cordial
1 x Swiss Roll
1 x Loaf of Bread (Kathryn carried this to our lunch 'site')
8 x Apples (approx.)
6 x Eggs (approx.)
1 x Carrot
8 x Potatoes (approx.)

And other bits and pieces. We cooked the Sausages by sticking them on sticks we found in the wild. We just stuck them on the fire and they cooked (they were scrumptious!)!!! We boiled the potatoes and the carrot-- all tasted great!

After the bush lunch, we did abseiling which was a disappointment... We waited for about half an hour to walk down some wall. Hmm...

That night, when we got back, I did some sketching with Anastasia, and went in the spa with Kim, Charlotte S, Pam and Jess. Dinner that night was Roast Meat (no idea what the meat was) with vegetables. Dessert was cake for Mr. Moran's Birthday (which was the first day back at school), and we went back to the cabins for showers etc.

That night, we had an Aboriginal Pastor whose name was Darren. He told us about the Aboriginal culture and Australia's indigenous land. He also played the didgeridoo and told us some 'scary' story about a red-eyed-Aboriginal Yeti. Lots of girls screamed and got all scared... Especially Anna... Ouch, my ears :P

Supper was similar to the night before's; Hot Milo + Fruit Slice. We slept earlier this time, and woke up to a breafast of cereal and spaghetti on toast.

Then we did what I found the highlight of camp! We went on the giant dual flying fox!!!

This was a Mega piece of string that ran across the valley, 220m long, 20m high!!! We were strapped to one end, went on with a partner, and could do acrobatics, for we were only strapped from the waist up!

So we went home after that, tired and a bit sore from the immense amount of activity!!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my third camp experience with my friends from school!

~Ying

Yes, it's me.

Yes, it's me.
